And then you drop it there because like, you’re harshing the vibe.

The Democrats wanted Medicare for All. The Republicans wanted Free Market Healthcare (aka poor people die). Obama took a plan initially conceived by the Heritage Foundation (those project 2025 fuckers) and implemented by Romney for Massachusetts to say “hey, you can have a little free market, but we gotta cover other people too”.

It was already a compromise. And the Republicans lost their shit and have proceeded to spend fifteen years crying about their own plan being rampant socialism and repeatedly trying to repeal it despite never actually having a back-up plan for healthcare, simply because they never really wanted compromise to begin with. The moment Obama got elected, they got into a meeting and vowed to tear down everything he tried to build no matter how much it agreed with their so-called values. Because racism, let’s be honest, but also because any compromise they put forward is just a show.

“Meet me in the middle, says the unjust man” isn’t just a hypothetical. It’s literally what happened when we tried to meet Republicans in the middle with healthcare.

• A judge in Chicago barred ICE agents from arresting people in court.
• MIT, University of Pennsylvania, and a couple other schools have been the first to refuse the administration’s ultimatum to either accept a complete govt audit of classes offered or lose federal funding, and we can hope others will follow suit.
• The administration continues to lose legal cases regularly, and now the Attorney General of Arizona is threatening to sue Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for his continued refusal to swear in Adelita Grijalva, who was elected to the House in a special election nearly three weeks ago. She would make the last signature needed on a House petition to push the Epstein case to the next stage.
• Steven Miller is selling his house in Arlington, VA and moving, because people kept writing criticism of him in chalk on the sidewalks. Lol.

There is blood in the water, guys. Don’t stop pushing. Find your nearest No Kings protest tomorrow, and put the fear of the people in the hearts of some Republican governors and congressmen.

A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.

Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.

Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.
